Kindred

Kindred: the ones who share your nature, whether by blood, by spirit, or by the path you walk together.

No one walks the Wheel alone. The Wise Woman ways have always lived in circles of women: teaching one another, gathering at the turning of the seasons, and holding space for each other through every kind of change.

These are the people and places we share this path with: a sisterhood rooted in presence, curiosity, and care. We trust their work, we gather in their circles, and we hope you will find a home with them too.

Dawn Michelle

Dawn Michelle Smith is a singer, sound healer, and lifelong student of chanting, yoga, and meditation, raised in the Vedic teachings of her Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. For more than 20 years she has also practiced Reiki, world herbalism, Ayurveda, aromatherapy, and incense crafting, and her work with the crystal bowls is shaped by more than four decades of song. My step-cousin and a kindred spirit in every sense, she owns and tends Sharanam Retreat Center in Estacada, Oregon, a sanctuary for the soul where some of our most nourishing seasonal circles take place.

Shayne Berry

Shayne Berry is a ceremonialist, grief tender, and sacred song weaver who walks alongside people through their Sacred Thresholds: endings and losses, new beginnings, and the transitions in between. Drawing on some 15 years of study in shamanism, somatic nervous system work, Non-Violent Communication, hypnotherapy, and Jungian archetypes, she offers journeywork, emotional alchemy, sound therapy, and ceremony rooted in the natural elements, for individuals, couples, groups, and young people coming of age. We have walked the Wheel together for 23 years, since our daughters shared a preschool classroom, and have supported one another through many of life's great spiral dances.

Yoga | Reiki | Botanical Art

Emmalyn, who also goes by Em or Emmy, is a full-time artist, yoga teacher, and Reiki practitioner. She spends her days making botanical oil paintings inspired by her bond with Mother Nature, and through her teaching she strives to cultivate more loving kindness in the world by deepening our collective connection to ourselves and to each other. Her journey with yoga began in her childhood living room, following Gaiam videos alongside her mom, and in 2016 she answered the call to teach and to study Reiki. Her classes invite you to go inward, meet your mind, body, and spirit more fully, and carry what you learn on the mat out into a life you love. Our paths crossed through Sharanam and the circles Dawn gathers there.
